Does Johns Hopkins admit by major? ›

When you applied to Hopkins, you applied to the full university, and not to a specific school or major (except in the case of biomedical engineering, see below). Upon matriculating, you can choose any major you're interested in pursuing across the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering.

Students must declare a major by the end of their second year in order to assure that they will complete requirements for graduation in four years. For every major and minor that is offered at Johns Hopkins, there is a faculty member or their designee who serves as the program's director of undergraduate studies.
